Bill is a long-term member of the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the American Trial Lawyers Association) and the Iowa Association for Justice (formerly known as the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association).
Bill and his wife have lived in Fort Dodge since 1977. They have two married daughters and three grandchildren. Bill has been active in community affairs and his church since his family moved to Fort Dodge. He is a past President of the Fort Dodge Community School District Board of Education, St. Olaf Lutheran Church Foundation, and Webster County Habitat for Humanity. He served many years on the Downtown Development Corporation Board of Directors and is a recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award. He is also a past President of St. Olaf Lutheran Church Council. Bill is presently serving on the Board of Directors of St. Olaf Lutheran Church Foundation and Beacon of Hope Men's Homeless Shelter.
